How To Make Just About Anything Workshop At Turtle Lake HS

A new workshop for adults is being offered at the Turtle Lake High School where participants will learn to use a wide assortment of technologically advanced equipment including laser engravers and 3-D printers.

The workshop will use the school's high-tech fabrication laboratory, or Fab Lab. The Turtle Lake School District is sponsoring the Spring workshop from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. any Wednesday (except March 28th) starting March 7th and runs through May with some dates in June available also. Saturday workshops are also being planned. There will be set dates with class projects and materials provided for anyone needing some inspiration. The first class project will be a Parent/Child activity. We will be baking a cake or brownies in a provided cake pan and you can either laser etch or decorate the lid with vinyl using Fab Lab equipment. This workshop will be March 21, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cost will be $25. You will take home a personalized cake pan and lid with your baked dessert included. (This class is not subject to the $35 registration fee) Other personalized pans are over $30 in stores and online (and no dessert comes with them).

The first class you attend will have an initial training session with the other nights open for participants to use the fab lab laser engraver, 3-D printer, vinyl cutter and CNC equipment. Software available for use includes CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator, as well as machine specific software.

The Spring workshop, How to Make Just About Anything, costs $35 for residents in the Turtle Lake School District and $55 for non-residents, plus material costs. Come and unleash your creativity!

An application form and registration fee will be required at the first class. Any questions please email Turtle Lake Community Education:
